Guest Lecturing at Yuntech

A few months ago, my professor at Yuntech (the college I attended), reached out to see if I was interested in being a guest lecturer for her class. Needless to say, I was honored by her invitation, and promptly said yes.

Here I introduced the characteristics of the Lishan, high mountain tea growing area.

I started out by introducing the students to the basics of tea.

I introduce the students to the material we will be covering today.

I share some information on Taiwanese Assam black tea.

Here I discuss the 3 most commonly produced tea types in Taiwan: black tea, oolong tea, and green tea (not pictured).

I introduce the 6 different types of tea: yellow tea, white tea, green tea, oolong tea, black tea, and post-fermented tea.

I handed out some of our Cuifeng Heavy Roast teabags to the students. I wanted them to understand the difference packaging can make when selling tea.

After I shared some basic tea knowledge with the students, we went on to discuss the business side of the tea industry. Things like packaging material, and design may not be interesting to most people, but in a market as saturated as the Taiwanese tea industry, they can make or break your company. After discussing a few more topics, I felt like it was time to wrap up the lecture; after all, we'd been talking for almost three hours! I ended the lecture with a short Q&A with the students.

Once the Q&A was finished, my teacher presented me with a letter of thanks from Yuntech. I was truly honored to receive this letter.

I am very grateful to both my professor, and Yuntech, for giving me the opportunity to make this presentation. It was truly a humbling and wonderful experience.
